I arrived in Nanjing and was very fortunate to be able to enjoy the hospitality a Chinese couple who is friends of my family. I stayed at their apartment and was taken sightseeing! It rained a little here but I didn't mind.
I met a Dutch guy on the train on the way here and met up with him on my last night in Nanjing to go for a beer in the City… it ended up being a pretty crazy night out!  Chinese clubs are absolutely hilarious, we were the only white people in the place, but this didn’t stop us partying hard and getting stuck into the dancing, showing the Chinese how it’s done! FYI the Chinese are TERRIBLE dances, they tend to just stand there holding hands while swinging their hips back and forth! There are times when I wish I had a camera taped to my head to capture the insanity of these situations. Although there were a couple of professional singers/dancer that were pretty awesome, they moved about the club singing a different song in each corner – a mixture of English and Chinese songs which were actually really good.

One of the cool things though was that most Chinese people play a really cool drinking game with dice that are provided in all the bars. It took a while to pick it up as the Chinese can count to 10 with just one hand! But before long I was pretty fluent in all the rules and quickly making friends.

All in all Nanjing was a great city and although I could have stayed longer, my time as always was short. I considered going to Shanghai, but then thought that I wanted something a bit more adventurous and so booked myself on a 32 hour train to Chengdu deep in the West of China. A decision that would turn out to be one of the best I made whilst in China!
