I jumped on the Bus at Blenheim and found some familiar faces on board. The couple from the hut on the Abel Tasman, plus a guy that I'd met at Milford Sound (Dan from Tazmania) was there. New Zealand is starting to get smaller. Then in the ferry terminal at Picton I bumped into Steve an Irish guy that I'd met in Queenstown. Too many coincidences in the past two days.

I ended up sitting with Dan the Tazzy on the boat, watching the cricket of all things. It was Australia vs The West Indies and it was being played in Hobart (his home town). I can't speak cricket fluently but I know a few words (such as declaration and follow on) so I tried to chat with Dan to best spend the time. It was amazing to talk to this guy, during the afternoon he uttered all three of the following sentances...
"He's probably the best wicketkeeper in the world"
"He's probably the best bowler in the world"
"He's probably the best fielder in the world"
Obviously refering to the Ozzy team, and as far as I know he's probably right.

I didn't have high hopes for Wellington. Just as well really. It was a nice town and would probably be great to live there as the weather was great, the city wasn't congested and it was clean. There is also a great arts scene here as well. As a tourist though it wasn't so exciting.

I took the tram to the top of the hill as suggested and wandered down through the botanical garden, very nice, a good plus point. I then wandered over to the very highly recommeneded 'Te Papa', New Zealand's National Museum. In my opinion, New Zealand's highly overrated museum. Maybe I'm just jadded by visiting too many museums in the past 6 months. They did allow access for you to view the rubber support blocks that are designed to help the building ride out an earthquake, really cool.

That's about it for Wellington, I'm glad that I didn't plan to spent too long here. Nothward Ho!
