I bought a Lonely Planet for New Zealand in the airport and failed miserably to read it on the plane, instead I just snoozed big time. I woke up just in time to get the best view of Mount Cook not long before we came into land, looks fantastic.

Once I was settled in Christchurch I thought I'd better get stuck into my guide book. It didn't take me long to realise that for all the things that I'd love to see and do in NZ I don't have enough time, barely over 3 weeks. I phoned up the airline to see about changing my flights but all the flights to South America are Chokka up to Christmas, so I just need to do the best I can. It'll be a bit like boiling an egg in 1 minute, possible but not the best way to do it.

I ended up spending most of my time in Christchurch planning where to go in NZ and how best to do it, not to mention a little internet time to update my ozzy adventures, administration is such a pain sometimes, anyone want a job as a secretary?

Christchurch is another fantastic little place. I'm becoming conscious that I'm saying that about everywhere that I visit, but it was superb. A really pretty city center with a catherdral in the middle. It's also got a massive park near the center, I thought the best way to explore the and the botanical gardens was to put on my new running shoes and head out for a run around them, how right I was.

That's about it for Christchurch I'm afraid, it really was a short functional visit.

Copeland trail...
If you get the chance to walk the Copeland trail it is fantastic. 30 mins south of fox glacier and a few pages before fox in the lonely planet (hence why its not well known). 6 or7 hour hike, thermal pools at overnight rangers hut stop..amazing.
sounds like you are having a great time...I told you to take a current CV for when you got to Sidney..hehe!
