Hi folks!
So, yes, here we are again...
...emm, yes, it's only been 5 weeks...
Feast or famine? Isn't it? Either the big lad is bombarding you all with more nonsense and pics than you can poke a stick at, and then all of a sudden he disappears off the face of the earth for 5 weeks.
So.
What the heck has been going on?
Well, after New Year the first couple of weeks at work were fairly 'full on' - with plenty of marquees - the highlight being a whole host of tents that converted the rugby ground at Queenstown into a tented village of near-biblical proportions. The occasion was the National Rugby Sevens tournament - a couple of pics are included.
I went down to the rugby for a look, but as a rubbish ex-prop forward all that speedy running around isn't really my scene so I didn't hang about.
Apart from that, not much to report on the first half of January.
The second half of January was considerably different! I was on vacation, and not alone! Now, a gentleman never tells, and certainly not through this public medium of modern communication that we all know and love as the interweb...so I am not going to release any details of a fantastic and memorable 11 days - apart from a few pics of some of the breathtaking scenery of New Zealand.
For more (non-geographical) details, you'll need to speak to me directly :-)
Therafter - the past 2 weeks have been mental. Just mental. Last week I racked up over 80 hours at work - serious long days and crazy hours throwing up marquees all over this part of the world. Last week's highlight was working on a half-a-million dollar wedding in Wanaka - which included laying 700m2+ of wooden flooring in 2 marquees and waving in helicopters for the bridal party and pilfering champagne after the party...
...aaahhhh!! The life of an underpaid marquee erector (marquee erectors get it up every time...)
But, I need to enjoy this marquee erecting lark while I can...
...because I am coming home soon!!!
Yes, just 4 and a half more weeks of marquee erecting, and 1 and a half weeks of getting myself organized, and than back to Nederland at the end of March!!!
I've had a great time down here in NZ - meeting some wonderful people, seeing the amazing landscapes of New Zealand, and having plenty of time to think about life the universe and everything...
...so at the end of March / start of April I will be back in Amsterdam ready to kick-off 'proper' life again.
