We ate a breakfast of music and french toast with bananas, smothered in butter and cinnamon and drizzled with syrup, said farewell to my garden and our little Ometepe crew and bought some organic jewellery for the girls at home. There are these wonderful travelling jewellers from all over Central America who collect stones, teeth, precious gems, amber, seedpods, shells, pieces of bone, leather and carvings from everywhere then carefully and lovingly weave threads into beautiful pieces. You end up with a piece that has objects collected from many different countries, nice gifts. I have already bought a piece of Serpentine stone and was wanting more. We found the perfect pieces for B and Margs and have bought many others. It was a good day for the jewellery makers.

We were heading downhill for the walk to the road when a red pick up truck stopped with some tourists in the front and we rolled into the back of it, well, took a dive in anyway and rolled around in the back not knowing where he would take us. It saved us a walk and a bus ride and we got to see the island open air style. We got off the back at Santo Domingo beach (on the lake). This is a mecca for kite surfers and families swimming. We were here to try the food at Villa Paraiso, an upmarket and popular hotel on the lake (chasing food again). We were glad to see the island from all the angles, it´s simply spectacular. Craig had told us he had the most vivid, lucid dreams of his life here. We sat under thatched umbrellas and viewed the volcano. I drew in the sand. We watched our first TV of the trip which was National Geographic´s Most Thrilling Events show and Nadine drank Tona beer in litre size while i sipped 12 year old Flor-De-Cana rum. The rum just gets better and they even do an 18year old brew.

We chatted to the couple who´s pick up van we had gate crashed. We ordered a whole Tarpon fish and camarones (shrimp) and a whole lobster. The lunch was perfect, good value and quality with that ultra fresh seafood crispy taste. Birds posed in the trees and we grazed and lazed until the bus was leaving to take us to the dock village of Algracia to board the 6pm boat to San Carlos. I am going to miss this island but will always remember it.
