We arrived in Gili Trawangan by fast boat from Bali and luckily we just missed the rain.
It was good to stand back on firm ground, after being stirred by the current left & right.

We took a walk to our bungalow, which is really not far from the port & our booked room was ready. It's a simple room, clean, with a neat simple terrace in front of it. The price was IDR 450,000 & this at high season! In Lombok, I got a 4star hotel room at IDR 400,000 , sigh... But, the atmosphere of Gili, you cant' beat it. In this island, there is no motorbike/car allowed. Only bicycle, people walking, and horse carts. so it was really an island-get-away.
We had time to enjoy a break near the clean water beach, before heading for dinner at one of the many restaurants/cafes on the east coast. We ate at an irish bar, tir na nog, and the pizza was really delicious.

Next morning, we took the 10.30 Am Snorkelling Package, which allowed us to snorkel in 3 points of 3 different islands, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. This was my first time snorkelling, so in the first stop, I kept swallowing salt water, instead of breathing properly by mouth thru the tube. Luckily, the spot didnt have much fish around & it's probably just a spot to practise breathing for novice like me.

On the second spot, in Gili Meno, we were instructed to follow one of the local snorkelling guides to look out for turtels. There was I still trying to breathe properly and playing catch up with the rest of the pack, following the guide. I dont believe I saw a turtle, I think it was more like a rock that I saw down there, but some of the snorkellers saw up to 5 turtles in one go. Oh well, not yet my time, I thought.

On the third spot, in Gili Air, I was so happy. There were many beautiful fish, like in Nemo, and they just kept appearing, different ones, in front of you. There was a live coral, and fish kept coming out of this coral. I never saw something as beautiful as this. It was like swimming in a big aquarium with all the fish you can find in cartoon films. The current was pretty strong, so we didnt have to swim, just have to float and the current will glide you over the various coral & fish. I wish it didnt end but it was time for lunch at Gili Meno.

Back in Gili Trawangan, I took a dip at the bungalow's pool, which was refreshing. However, I caught some itchiness and soreness on my fingertips. Later on, a doctor in Jakarta told me I probably got it from bactery & swimming pool caporite. so this must be the reason.
At 4pm, we rented a bike to go & circle the island. We did it in 2hours, all on the beachfront. However, most of the time , 60% maybe, we couldnt ride on the bike, but we had to push by hands & walk the bike above the sands. We were just in time for sunset at sunset bar, towards the end of the ride, but it was not the moment to catch sunset with Mount Agung at the horizon. So we left before it finished & returned the bike to the renters.

Next day, we had to catch the 8.00 am boat to carry us to Bangsal Port Lombok.
