For our last 3 nights we had booked a room at Melia Benoa, a 5 star hotel with the option of going for an all-inclusive package, which we did and didn't regret! We had good fun with the cheasy house activities, such as shooting, archery, ping-pong, cocktail demonstration, etc! We spent a lot of time in the sun and in the pool, and we had a go at parasailing.

Unfortunately on our last afternoon Nicklas experienced a sharp pain in the right side of his chest while we were playing beach volleyball, and it turned out he had spontaneously punctured his lung. So we went to the nearest international hospital - the BIMC in Kuta, 20 mins by taxi, where he was admitted and had a chest tube put in a few hours later... so we missed our last night at the hotel, but the hotel nurse came by the next morning with a fruit basket from the hotel :-)

Right now we are waiting for a Danish anestesiologist to come and escort us back to Denmark in 2 days, so our trip will hopefully only be extended by 5 days in all. The hospital staff has been great, and we would advise anyone thinking of travelling without a good travel insurance not to! I have no idea what the hospital bill is going to be, but it's US$ 500 per night, US$ 3.000 for the chest tube procedure, and I don't know what 2 chest x-rays and a CT-scan cost here.... Plus the flight home with a doctor. Remember your travel insurance! Something like this can happen to anyone, anytime!
