We arrived in Denpassar Airport, Bali, at around 10.30 am Tuesday, walked outside the airport and got a taxi a bit cheaper than one can get them inside the airport grounds. We had packed 2 daypacks and dropped off our backpacks at the hotel in which we’ll be staying our last 3 nights before renting 2 scooters in Kuta (35.000 Rp (20 kr) per bike per day after quite a bit of bargaining). By then it was 3 pm and we had to get through the traffic in Kuta so we could head up the east coast.
We arrived in the chilled village of Padangbai just before dark and quickly found a nice room where we stayed for 2 nights. There is a nice white sand beach in a small bay (only about 200 m wide) and the Blue Lagoon is ok for snorkelling; both are only a short drive or walk away from the centre of the village. It is also from here many travelers catch a ferry to Lombok or straight to the Gili islands.
