Jagdeesan, our faithful taxi driver, welcomed us at Coimbatore airport with his beaming smile.

After a brief halt at Pollachi for lunch, we climbed the Aliyar ghat to Valparai.  Driving time Coimbatore to Valparai without stops should not be more than 3 hours.  But who can refrain from stopping to soak in those beautiful views?

This time, noticing a large number of men only groups, we did not bother with the Monkey falls though they are undoubtedly worth seeing.

There are 40 hairpin bends on the road up to Valparai.  Nilgiri Tahr can be seen around 4pm onward at the 9th bend which is also the Loams View Point.  We enjoyed the view of Aliyar Lake but were not at the right time for those mountain goats!

Never mind.  A giant squirrel, a Nilgiri Langur and some Lion Tailed Monkeys said a hearty VANAKKAM TO VALPARAI somewhere in the forest before Iyerpadi.

Jose, the Manager at Green Hills instantly recognised us from our previous visit and greeted us warmly.  This time too, we preferred to stay at their guest house away from the main road, with great views of the Nadumalai estate and the Grass Hills.

Bidding Jagdeesan goodbye for a week, we took a short rest and then went for a walk to the nearby Woodbriars Estate to enjoy the evening light.
