Thanks to all of you who phoned or send e-mail regarding the earthquake in Lima Peru.  We have spoken with our travel agent at CWL and our tour operator in Peru "Gap Adventures" and we have been assured that it is safe to travel.  The airport in Lima is open, electricity is working and most major infrastructure is ok.  We may have a few changes in itinerary, particularly the time in Lima but we are pretty sure that the hike to Machu Picchu should go ahead as scheduled.  We will be sure to post when arriving in Lima and will be able to give you an update on the situation there.  Al says "the adventure continues, maybe we will get a stint as relief workers".
Thanks again for all the well wishes, we will soon be on our way.

Have a great time!
I went to Peru with GAP in May this year, and did the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. I had a wonderful time - everything was well planned and well executed. GAP gets an A+. (You can read about it - www.travelpod.com/members/hsb)

Have a safe and wonderful trip!
