! it was very relaxing and the rain didn't even bother us! I think the best thing we did though was eat and drink! We had so much western food. And since we are NOT tourist in China, we are residents I didn't feel like one of those lame westerners who go to foreign countries and only eat McDonald's or something. I mean yes we were tourist in Sanya, but that was the point. We don't get to eat that food in Wenzhou. And they had drinks like Sangria and Margaritas and pina coladas . We were in heaven. I know I won't eat like that or get those drinks for at least 9 more months. We indulged. Despite the rain we had a blast!!
My school was so generous and took us on a little trip. We went to Hangzhou (which is the capital of the province I live in) We were there from October 6th-8th. I left the day after getting back from Sanya. Hangzhou is about a 4 hour bus ride. The trip was amazing! It's my favorite part of China I've seen yet. Its so unbelievably beautiful there and the air is so clean. We were put up in a hotel and part of a little tour. Clearly our tour guide only spoke Chinese so I really had no idea what was going on but I loved every moment of it. It was also great to get to see my Chinese co workers out side of school. I love them! They are so fun and so nice. It's very rare when you work somewhere and you genuinely like everyone you work with. We did all the touristy stuff. We even saw a Chinese opera! it was beautiful! I got asked to have my picture taken alot! Even in a city as big as Hangzhou I really didn't see many foreigners and never any girls my age.
A great thing about living in Wenzhou is there are plenty of little towns just an hour or so away on the bus. Hannah and I decided to go to Shui Tou and walk around the mountains and go swimming. It was so beautiful! There are so many places in China that I can't wait to see.
I don't think this blog will do my past week any justice but I shall try! In China one of the main holidays is National Day. We had off about 10 days for it. Perfect opportunity to travel! Lyley and I decided to head down to Sanya which is in the Hainan Province, which is a little island that is part of China. We wanted a beach holiday and tacky drinks! We were there from the 29th-5th. and it rained almost the entire time kind of a buzz kill when you wanted a beach holiday. But we didn't let it ruin our fun! and we did get some sun our first 2 days there! We stayed at this little hostel called "Thorn Bird Hostel" and we quickly became friends with everyone there. So we had our little group we would go out with. Lyley and I also met a group of journalist living in Shanghai so we hung out with them as well. One of our first nights we ended up going to this place called Fat Daddy's where we met the manager, a young guy from North Carolina. So he ended up taking us out a few times. We also went to a Hot Springs which was amazing!
