First let me explain the trip.... I had always wanted to go to Ireland because of ,well everything. From the culture to the history to the scenic aspect of Ireland, going there was always a dream. So let's begin!
My hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick is a medium sized city of about 110,000 people.... not enough to get a prominent international airport ,so of course to get a flight you have to go somewhere else, such as Boston or Halifax. For this trip we (my father and I) chose Boston as it had the cheapest flight to Shannon, Ireland.
We have friends in Lowell, Massachusetts (about 30 minutes from Boston) and we decided instead of driving 8 hours on the 26th and then flying 5 hours to Ireland that we would just drive down the day before stay the night and some of the next day in Lowell , then catch our flight the next day all rested up. This first blog is about the night of the 25th.
If you want to go on a scenic road trip DO NOT take the I95 from Saint John to Lowell as there is literally no views and just trees and roads for 8 hours except for the view from the Plymouth Bridge in New Hampshire.
Once we eventually got to Lowell we meet our friends and went to their house. They live in cozy home just outside Lowell that used to be a cottage. It is built on a lake with a nice beach and a scenic view over a little forest and the lake .
For supper we went to our friend's ( Billy and Jen) sons house . I was a delicious meal of venison (deer), cooked to perfection with peppers and spices so it felt like it was melting in your mouth, with potatoes, and Boston cream pie.
After a long day of driving and a beautifully cooked meal I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow.
