Wow. I survived the last week all right, so well, in fact, that I didn't even notice it was passing by so quickly. I had final exams Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and then a graduation ceremony this (Saturday) morning. Some highlights from the week were playing basketball with the boys one last time, winning third place in a speech contest while competing against high-level students, and the moment during graduation when the language pledge ended and we were allowed to speak English again. Strangely, after six weeks of speaking only Chinese, it feels awkward and unnatural to speak English. In fact, I've been speaking Chinese all day today by accident, even though I don't have to.
I'm packing now. Our bus departs for the airport tomorrow at 10:30AM. It feels strange to be leaving Hangzhou so suddenly. It feels like I've been here a lot longer than six weeks. Considering the amount of Chinese I've learned, the number of new people I've met, the amount of life adjustments I've had to make, and the number of hours I haven't slept over the past month and a half, I guess it is no wonder. But that's what an intensive, immersion language course is all about. See you all on American soil soon! In the meantime, I plan to sleep, sleep, sleep.
