Hi ya all... we left Split for Korcula by ferry and first stop was a little town 'Vela Luka' the population is like Denmark's pop about 4000, I want to live here it's so friendly and peaceful, we met Adrian's uncle Barba Baldo... a beautiful gentleman... I love the Croatian culture very family orientated, respectful of the elderly and children... young people are universal anywhere, giggly, young and very beautiful...when we arrived off the ferry our accamodation owners we're there to greet us and invited us back to their place for some delicious food, we left there at midnight, this was alot of fun... the next day was filled with walking, swimming and more walking and more swimming, we slept so well that night... we must dress funny/different 'cause every time we walk past the locals they giggle behind their hands, the elderly are less obvious but the young ones don't hide the fact that we look like strangers, personally I think it's got something to do with Alex's thongs :) ...our next stop was Blato 10km from Vela Luka and a much older town ...twas great to see Joguda again once she started to cry, she got our water works happening also... we went to visit her place without having any prior knowledge of her street, all we had to do was ask a local and mention the Gavranic' name and peoples faces lit up... "oh your Benjamin's son?" they would ask Adrian, hence two very spunky young girls walked us to her place (much to Alex's delight:) ... met a very elderly lady by the name Angelica who was a great friend of Benjamin,(Joguda said) ... who is our neighbour... she has invited us over for rakia/grappa an offer Adrian will be taking up soon... I went grocery shopping this morning with Olivia and Alex while Adrian went to visit his father's grave(a gentleman showed him where it was by walking him there) very sweet!! Shopping was fun... had to look at the picture labels and make out what I was buying... reminiscent of my families first experience in Australia, when they bought and ate dog food because the label was meat :) and they wonder why I'm a vegetarian:) anyway I haven't had any luck with this downloading of our holiday photos (Gemma if you get this please draw a plan, step by step :) on Thursday we leave for Split to ferry across to Ancona ... Olivia and I are off to visit Joguda once again, Adrian's cooking a pasta tonight, we're now self sufficient and cooking for ourselves rather than eating out, however home-cooking is very much the go even in restaurants absolutely "super"... a favourite word here... love to you all and wishing you were very much here experiencing this journey...love from me ... Isabelxxxx
RECIPE: young zucchini, sliced thinly lengthwise coated with flour, dipped in beaten egg, then in bead crumbs and shallow fry in olive oil, sprinkle with salt while still hot ...yummy :)
