Perhaps here is the best place for a bit of background info on our trip for those of you who may not know us that well. The idea to go travelling had been kicking around for quite a while, with Mary's desire to see a bit of the world before putting down roots being the main driving force. Ig (AKA John to work colleagues, and blood relatives, but who will be referred to as Ig in this travelpod as it's quicker to type) has already travelled round the world some 7 years ago but was naturally well up for the idea of 6 months off work. After the proposal of marriage in May 2003, the idea began to snowball and it was decided that such a trip would make a perfect honeymoon. Both Ig and Mary managed to persuade very understanding employers to grant them unpaid leave from work whilst they galavant around the globe.
The basic plan is that we are going round in a westerly direction visiting the USA, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia (Bali), Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal and India. This combines some of the 'must see' highlights of Ig's last trip with some unchartered territory for both - It should be a great experience if nothing else.
