May 3, Barolin Rocks
We have wandered here and there and everywhere, be it through travel brochures or actual places, but the truth is that we may well have gone through Australia for 2 months and never snorkel once. The price is too high and/or the weather has been bad enough to churn the sea and reduce the visibility. So, Barolin Rocks seemed our last chance to see some colourful fish since it was supposed to be a "miniature reef"... to no avail though, as it was very windy and the ocean was to choppy to swim in there. The kids laid at the bottom of a tide pool with giant waves splashing over them, showering them with salted water. Still, the marine life seemed rather bleak... we can see way more back home on Vancouver island...hum... All this gets to be frustrating and I can't seem to find the perfect spot to pay so much money for! Corinne

Nous avons erré ici et là et un peu partout, soit au travers de brochures de voyages, soit aux endroits réels, pour finir après 2 mois de voyage en Australie par ne pas avoir encore été capables de faire du tuba, ne serait-ce qu’une fois. Les prix sont trop élevés, et/ou le temps a été suffisamment mauvais pour retourner l’eau de mer et réduire la visibilité.
Donc, Barolin Rocks semblait être notre dernière chance de voir des poissons multicolores car c’est inscrit comme étant un endroit corallien magnifique en miniature...mais le vent était trop fort et l’océan trop mouvementé pour pouvoir s’y baigner. Les enfants se sont allongés au fond d’une petite piscine naturelle qui se faisait arroser par les énormes vagues, les aspergeant d’eau salée. Cependant, les animaux marins ne sont pas très nombreux… on en voit beaucoup plus chez nous, sur l’île de Vancouver...hum... Tout cela devient frustrant et je n’arrive pas à trouver l’endroit parfait où on pourrait dépenser tant d’argent! Corinne
