This is the worst place on the planet; a complete & utter shithole crawling with the epitomy of Chavs from various nations!

Admittedly I was a bit down because the weather's still shit, Bryonie's gone home & worst of all, Wednesday were knocked out of the cup at the third round for the eighth year running, but all I was looking for was a quiet cheap room to chill until I could get the first available bus to Malaysia. Instead I had to endure three days of this hell & so I thought I'd just get a cheap room with a telly! The cheap room, 10 quid which isn't cheap in Asia, was horrendous & was also right next to the boxing stadium which had an advert for tonights big fight on a thirty second loop from 10am til 11pm, so loud I couldn't even hear the telly! Eventually I checked into a nice hotel for a night- the final straw..... I scooped some water out of the bucket of water to flush the loo & about a hundred mozzies flew out!

What I don't get is why anyone would pay a grand to come here when for 200 quid you can go on an 18-30s holiday to magaluf if you're British, the Aussie chavs have Bali & the Yank rednecks Miami or somewhere like that... unless they were all here this week for an international chav-off!

Worst of all I ordered dinner one night in a pub, sat down, looked up at the wall to find this- think the comments written on the shirt says it all about Sheff Utd fans!

What do I think about Thailand...... Well it started when we crossed the border from Cambodia with the new visa rules which no-one knew about! 15 days exeption if you come in by land as opposed to 30 by air, which meant I would have had to leave in the middle of Bryonie's stay. Fortunately, for 40 quid you can extend it for a whopping seven days! So tell me this: for a country whose economy is dependent on tourism, which is struggling because of the recent political upheaval, which dumbass introduced this rule!!? Add in the fact that a lot of locals (especially anyone who has anything to do with getting from A to B) are just out to rip you off at every possibility, Thailand is not a nice place to travel. It's massively expensive & the most beautiful spots are being ruined by over development! That said we still had a lot of fun! Would I return? Only to do Changmai on my way to Laos on a future holiday (I hear North Thailand's still nice) but other than that & in the words I wrote to the Thai Immigration Bureau in my Victor meldrew-esqu letter...... 'I'll take my money to a country that wants it'!
