Finally! After three months of kicking my heels, hanging around foreign places & just generally waiting around,
Bryonie finally arrived in Bangkok for a couple of weeks of sun, sea & .... I can't remember the other one! Anyway.... Bangkok's a particularly vibrant city & we could have done with a couple more days there, but I guess we'll just have to go back! That said, if you want to experience what Bangkok's like for about one tenth the price, buy a PS2 & Grand theft Auto: Vice City & there you have it!

So anyway, after a night on the town & a lie in at our crap 2 star hotel which was nicer than anywhere I've stayed in the last 3 months, we crossed town & checked into the Banyon Tree for a night of luxurious celebration, which included dinner at Vertigo, the 59th floor open air restaurant, which was amazing, not just for it's outstanding food & service, but also the views & general ambience! This is definitely my idea of how travelling should be- I think I'll carry on in this vein!! The swimming pool was also open air & high in the sky but it seemed to be north facing & although I wanted to, Bryonie insisted I didn't go in too much as it was freezing & I had a bit of a cold!! Other interesting stuff we did included: the weekend market, which is massive! We walked around for about five hours & only covered about a tenth of it & treated ourselves to foot massages (all in the aid of helping Bryonie pass her degree!); we went for a Korean BBQ, which I think is my favourite food at the moment! It's kind of like Tapas only with korean specialites & they cook the meat in from iof you then you wrap it in lettuce with the other bits & cram as much as you can into your mouth!

We got drunk some more on the Koh San Road.... ; we had a day of trying all the various transports  in which we visited the Grand Palace where we had to borrow some exceptionally cool clothes to cover our arms & legs & finally we went to watch the Muay Thai boxing where they wouldn't let me have a go becauise they said I looked too hard! We went third class because we wanted to sit with the locals as we were advised they stood there & it only cost them 200 Baht, but it still cost us 1000 because we're foreigners & we were the only people up there, the locals were all in second class! We weren't allowed to bet either, presumably because we're too stupid to say "50Baht on blue please?" but that aside we had a great eveing, getting into the spirit of things by betting each other (I won) & making up names for the one's we couldn't pronounce! The final day before catching the overnight bus to Krabbi, we went to the crocodile & elephant farm to watch some nutters stick their heads inside crocodiles jaws-
I tried to get them to let Bryonie have a go but she whimped out!

We also witnessed one of the most impressive things I've ever seen...... an elephant tight rope walking!!
