Up OK today, well Nicole had a few issues, bags packed and caught a van taxi without any problems from the front of the Handlery. Got a few blocks down the street when I realised I had left my hat and sunglasses on the ATM in the motel. Doubled back and luckily someone had handed it in to reception.  Strange though, it had my full name on a piece of paper attached to the hat and glasses – how did they know who owned them? Stuffed if I know either.

Taxi driver looked European. Bit like some Russian spy you see on a movie. Had a name to match. Drove like we were being chased by the KGB.  75-80 miles an hour all the way to the airport. What a ride.

Arrived at airport with about 3 hours to spare. Checked luggage in nice and early and got seats right up the front of the plane (4th row). Could see the cockpit clearly prior to taxi to runway. Flight to Calgary took 2 hours and 15 minutes. Really nice, smooth flight. 40,000 feet in a boeing 737. We were offered a ride from the terminal to customs in complimentary golf carts so we jumped on – kids thought it was great.  We got through Canadian customs very fast.  Soon we were out of the terminal, at Hertz rent-a-car and before long I was behind the wheel of a Dodge Caravan (left hand drive). This is where I sign off and the big girl signs on – only she can express what happened next the best.

Well, what can you expect when you have 5 Preston's in a dodge driving on the wrong side of the road in the dark with a GPS from Matt Dando that we could not get to work- the big boy chose not to check it out before we left Australia. Add to this the pent up frustration of living together for 13 days in a fishbowl with only take out to keep us going. Nicole's stomach was almost back in Australia with pain and even Lucy cried all night as we could not find a good vegie meal.

Picture this- big boy has no idea, i am stressed because he keeps turning into the wrong side of the road and i have to yell move over and the kids are STARVING- because we had to leave the hotel with the roosters so that we would not miss our 1:50 plane. Which turned out to be a 2;35 plane., any surprises!!! We landed at 5:45 and finally got to Banff at 10pm- so much for an hour drive south!!!!!

Oh, by the way the stupid blonde- yes me- got the GPS to work, not the Computer guru or the talented teenagers- which are just about to go each other. Everyone was in wonder of this as we had to stop for 20 minutes on the side of the road because I would not know how to do it- so the big boy spent a lot of time- it must in tools he kept saying- if kids weren’t reading this I would use some rather bad language.

To end the night off- we HAD MCDONALD’s for tea. For those that know me that is disgusting!!! And the very last resort. BUT the kids were about to die from starvation and I was about to be admitted to any institution that would take me and the big boy- well he was just trying to get us all killed by going on the wrong side of the road every corner. He liked to follow (tailgate) cars so he knew what he was doing.

Worst Day- i was ready at Calgary airport to package me up and go home.

Banff was a light at the end of the day- we are in a 2 storey chalet with a kitchen and laundry- finally I can wash. The big boy took on the challenge of grunge ( if you don't go to Seattle bring a little Seattle to yourself)- i did not wash a pair of socks and only 2 pairs of  his undies for 6 days!!!  We all think that is disgusting. We asked him to have a shower when we got to the hotel as his nervous energy was sending of a vial perspiration scent.

At 10:30 we went to get a bottle of wine- we all needed one (all 5 of us) and then bed at midnight.

What a day!!!!!!!!!
