The sun always shines in the south of France in summer doesn't it?

Well not today it didn't.

At St Maxime in the morning it was just cloudy. By the time we were passing Nice on the motorway the rain had started stayed with us all the way to Monaco. Pretty spectacular drive - the hills come right down to the coast and the motorway passes through a series of tunnels from Nice, passed Monaco and on into Italy. Monaco and many of the other places along this coast are built up hillsides with very little flat areas at all.

Once in Monaco we parked the car in one of the many parking stations (which was surprisingly cheap) and started our walking tour. The super yachts were in the harbour, the super cars were lined up outside the casino. We walked part of the F1 circuit. The rain got heavier. As glamorous as Monaco is, it just wasn't happening today.

The car park we were parked in had an interesting collection of cars - Feraris, Aston Martins and a beautiful white Porsche GT3 RS covered in dust. Could its owner have forgotten about it?

Lets drive to Italy. It is only a few kilometres up the road anyway. So we did. Just to say we have been there. Would have been nice to stop and explore one or two of the little villages but it was still raining. We ended up driving straight back to St Maxime.

By the time we got back it had stopped raining and the sun was coming out. Typical
