Troy, Turkey

We spent our third night in Turkey across the Dardanelles in Asia, at Canarakke, whose waterfront proudly displayed the "original" fibreglass Trojan Horse from the film Troy. The next day we visited the site of the historical city of Troy, where we saw the archaeological evidence for nine different periods of Troy's existence and enough landmarks mentioned in Homer's Odyssey that you can convince yourself that there may have been a Greek siege of Troy perhaps involving a decoy of some sort, but probably not day after day for 10 years, to retrieve to lovely Helen. Our Troy guide Mustafa (just Mustafa) was also very knowledgeable and had written a book on both Troy and
Gallipoli.
