Woke up early today – at 6am, despite getting
to sleep about 3am. We had to leave the hotel at 8am as we were
heading back to London. We had to make the ferry at Calais on time or
we would miss it. After getting up I got dressed and packed my bags.
I have decided to leave a lot of my rubbish here rather then take it
back to London, I also got rid of my sleeping bag here as well as I
would no longer need it and it was cheap enough that getting rid of
it rather then taking it with me is a good idea. The other guys had
the same idea and we filled a box with our rubbish and left it just
by the door. After packing I went to breakfast, had a quick bite to
eat and then went back to the room where I made sure that nothing was
left behind, did a quick tidy of the room and then took my bags down
to the coach. Just after getting the bags on the coach it started to
rain. By 8am everyone was on an we farewelled everyone who was
staying on in Amsterdam. There were 12 people staying at the hotel
plus one that left for the airport earlier in the morning and one we
would drop off at the airport on the way to London. We said our sad
goodbyes and then departed the hotel.

Our first stop was the Airport where we dropped
off one person and the continued on the way. We stopped at the first
rest stop, which was a burger king and general shop area, I went and
got a coffee at the general food area and then walked around talking
with everyone. Back on the coach after the rest stop and we were
hoping to make it to Calais in time for the 1.30pm ferry, otherwise
we would have to get on the 2.30pm ferry. While driving I was
listening to my Ipod and taking with various people. There were also
4 buses that were going to catch the ferry with us, 2 that were
behind us from Amsterdam and one coming from the Paris area.

Before I left the rest stop I made sure that I
had enough euros for Prague, as it turns out I do have enough.

We got to the ferry area at Calais, but had
missed the 1.30 ferry, but we had to go through UK immigration and
then go to the check in area for the ferry. UK immigration is slow
compared to French ones, but we were all done in 20 minutes and then
had to wait to board the ferry. This was no problem and we got on
then we up to the food area to get some food. I then went and had a
look at the duty free shop, and purchased a soft neck travel pillow.
I got one on the way into the Rhine valley but must have lost it some
where around Grandmas' place a few days earlier, I thought I left it
on the bus, but couldn't find it, so I purchased another and decided
not to lose it. It was then a matter of sitting around waiting for
the ferry to dock, the ferry was delayed just outside the port at
Dover. This ended up being a 30 minute delay and we left the port
soon after 4pm. No it was a race to the royal national hotel, there
were 2 buses in front and 1 behind. However we got stuck in traffic
and ended up last at the Royal national so had to park in the street.

We got to the hotel at 6.30pm, then we had to
get our bags, as well as our room vouchers. We had to take the
vouchers to the reception counter where we exchanged this for a room
slip. Once we had this we had to go to the concierge and collect the
door card so we could get in. This would be simple but there was a
massive line because there were 4 buses unloading. Once I got my door
card I went to my room, dropped off my bags, then went down and used
the internet, then went back to my room where I repacked my bags, had
a shower, cleaned up and meet my room mate, who was from a camping
trip. I then went down to the London pub where we had some last
official drinks with the remaining tour people. Even our tour manager
Jordie turned up and had a drink, we continued to talk for a bit,
said a few farewells to those who were leaving in the morning or
later tomorrow and then went to bed. I was exhausted but glad to be
back in London.
