Once we got back, we treated ourselves to a few Pisco sours and a good sleep.
An interesting 14 hour bus journey from Santiago to Chaņaral, a small town in the desert, used as a base to visit the national Park Pan de Azucar. It only rains every 10 years and we were lucky enough to miss the rain and see the flowers it brings. We trekked through the desert, carrying 5Lt of water, for most of the day to the high point of the Mirador. From there we could see the small fishing village that we started from and then realised we had to walk all the way back. So we took a nap in the sun. We saw a herd of Wanaku but no desert fox, ah well, canīt have everything.
