Where I stayed
behind the police station
So...as Will suggested, we rented a camper van to travel around the island. An automatic one (how easy!) and on top of that it was all spray painted with Dali´ masterpieces! Narcissus and melted clocks everywhere. The coolest camper van ever! All we needed to do was buy some food on the way and find a place where to park... easier said than done... where is the "Pak´n Save"? And where can we park for free? Well, we didn´t find the P&S and after looking for parking space we eventually asked the police....yes, the police. And their answer was to park behind their station!!!! So we did, and that was the safest free camping we could have possibly found!
The lake was beautiful and we had a fantastic time. We got to see the "Craters of the Moon" and the silica terraces at Wairakei. Very smelly but absolutely beautiful!!!
