A long drive from Queenstown that started with a dramatic zig-zag road up over the Crown Range through Cardrona. We then passed lakes Wanaka and Hawea as the road moved from one shore to the other. The next stage of the road took us through Ka Tiritiri O Te Moana (Ascend to the heights of your aspirations) known in English as Mount Aspiring National Park. The last stretch took us up to the Westland Tai Poutini National Park and to the Fox glacier. The weather was slowly closing in and it was spitting with rain but we were able to walk close to the face of the glacier.
