The odometer was reading 173369km, the trip meter was zeroed out, and the Garmin GPSmap 76 CSx was set to track the first leg of the trip.  Pat took a 'Get the Hell Otta Here!' photo with my Casio Exilim EX-V8 digital camera and off we went. Departing at midday under cool, wet skies Hurvey (1988 Nissan Urvan w/Dove Campervan Conversion) and I headed northbound via the Great Northern Highway (GNH) from our apartment at the corner of East and George St's in East Fremantle, Western Australia (WA), Australia just south of Perth.  The first fuel stop was at New Norcia about 1500hrs.  This is this the site of a monastery dating back to the 1840's intent on providing a Christian conversion establishment to benefit the Aboriginal population.  Continuing north bound on the GNH to Dalwallinu for fuel and a chicken burger.  This turned out to be a very pleasant little town at the northern edge of the wheat belt with modern agricultural machinery and a historic down town.  Continued north via the GNH thru Wubin to the Mt Gibson rest stop.  This is a 24 hr rest area and there were two other rigs parked when I arrived about 1915.  The last part of the run was again in and out of the rain and with impending rain through out the nite I elected to leave the top down to keep the canvas dry.  It was an uneventful nite except for the occasional of rain on the roof.
