We were up at 3.30am , after 4hr sleep to get to Luton airport for our 6.30 flight to berlin, only to have a taxi driver drop us off at ???? instead of our hotel. After wondering around for 1/2 hr and having some locals tell us in full German and some hand gestures were thought our hotel was. Thank goodness the travel agents speak some English. Did I mention it was raining?!!!
So after finding our hotel and having some lunch we went and met Jackie, one half of the German med students Sam had worked with in Syd in 2009 and we had come to visit.
Jackie was a great hostess during the day while her other half Dimmi, was at work (Jackie is between jobs). At night they took us to teriffic typical Berlin eateries, Pinselheinrich for Bratwurst and liver something, both delish, and Shnitzeli for some dirty schnitty. Couln't leave without having the real thing. Yummm and not a bread or deep fryer insight.
While there we saw the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Eastside Gallery on part of the remaining BerlinWall, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Berliner Dom, Altes Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and a number of train stations including Zoologischer (U2 - Zoo station) but no shopping.
Then up at 3.00am again!!! to catch our 6.00am flight back London.
hope you enjoy the pics.
