This morning we caught a bus from Tokyo to Fuji. It was only a 90 minute bus ride so it wasn't bad at all. Our hostel staff picked up us from the station in Fuji so that was really handy. Our hostel was really nice! The common room and kitchen were huge. Leather sofas, a kotatsu table (Japanese table that has a heater under it), and big windows to see the beautiful cherry blossoms outside. The cherry blossoms in Fuji were in full bloom. Best ones yet! Our room was the traditional Japanese style with tatami mats and futons.

We had lunch at the Mt.Fuji Photo Museum and got to wonder around the one room exhibit for free. It had pictures of Mt.Fuji in it from all different angles and in all of the seasons. The mountain is truly majestic. It's standing there all by itself. Without another mountain in site. I think that's one of the reasons it looks so big. We couldn't actually see the mountain on this day as it was too cloudy so the pictures were all we had.

After lunch we caught the bus to the 5th station on Mt.Fuji. Talk about a money maker. 2000 yen round trip. Our bus to Fuji from Tokyo was only 1700 yen. I need to think of a scheme like that. Anyways, the 5th station is the highest vehicles are able to go. The mountain still had snow on it so we weren't able to climb it but the 5th station was at 2300m so that's a good start chunk done seeing as the mountain is only 3000 and change meters tall. At the 5th station, it was super foggy! I actually think we were probably just in some low lying clouds. You couldn't see 10 feet in front of you it was that bad. It was really cold up there too. You could definitely see your breath. The 5th station had a bunch of gift shops and restaurants there as well as a shrine and horses for riding.

On our way back down the mountain, we caught a couple glimpses of the top near the 4th station. Covered in white snow. Awesome!

Back on street level, I went and checked out one of Fuji's five lakes. I went to Lake Kawaguchi. I wish we would have had another day in Fuji maybe just so we could have explored the area a little more. The bat cave and the ice cave would have been cool to see. Oh well, Kyoto tomorrow!
