Today I was planning on going to Minna Island with this guy I met at my hostel who is a Environmental Science Professor at the Kyoto University. We planned on leaving at 9am but we left at 10am instead. Also, instead of going straight to the port, we went with everyone else to go and check out the new site of Musubiya.
The new location is absolutely gorgeous. The view is amazing yet again but it is even harder to find than the current building. There is no way people without a vehicle will be able to stay there.
We left the construction site at 12pm. When we finally reached the port, we found out that there is only one boat a day that goes to and from Minna Island. What were we thinking? We should have checked the times before hand. I was kind of frustrated because it was the Professor's idea so I assumed that he knew the ferry schedule. I felt as if I wasn't my entire morning.
As a back up though, we decided to go and check out Ocean Expo Park and then relax at Emerald Beach until the park closed. We went and saw the native Okinawan village, the Tropical Dream Center, a dolphin show, Omoro Botanical Garden, and before we knew it the park was closing. There was no time to go to Emerald Beach. We still went and took pictures from afar but it would have been nice to be able to swim there. It's a beautiful beach! The map of the beach shows 3 beaches...beach of view, beach of play, and beach of rest. I would consider that one beach everywhere else in the world. Oh Japan.
We then went and checked out a famous spot filled with Fokuki trees. It's actually quite cool. The trees help shield homes from the wind. It is basically a Fokuki forest but with paths and homes built in it. At the time we checked it out, it was very dark. As we were walking in the forest I kept telling the professor that this is how horror movies start...
