From just walking from the train station to the hostel, I prefer this city to Singapore. It is a 'real' city. It has everything Singapore has but also what every city should have - grime and crime. We got ourselves a very cheap place to stay which was excellent crack however the dorm stank like my football boot bag. Dave, an american who spoke exactly like Slyvester the Cat and has lived in South East Asia for 12 years assured us the smell was from a Canadian who had stayed there a few days ago. He also told us that Thailand was boring and he had nothing good to say about Cambodia and Vietnam :-s. Another strange person to add to the list.
We really liked KL as it is known. It is really cheap and there is loads to do. We went up the KL Tower (4th largest in the world) and we also went up the Petronas Towers, formerly the tallest building in the world but now re-labelled the tallest twin towers in the world. The building is immense and really impressive. With it being free to go up it is a must. However tourists only get to go to the bridge that joins the two buildings which is only half way up. Its still very high though.
Our hotel was very strange. We assume it must be half hostel and half brothel. There were always three ladies hanging around in their nighties. We couldn't work it out. We never saw any 'punters' coming in and out. I imagine it will be more of the same as we go through SE Asia.
They love the Premier League here aswell. With the top four playing each other, it is all anyone talked about. They all knew who Sunderland are though and partly because of Roy Keane. We have to get in the Premier and stay there, its so important on a global scale.
We had an eventful night out. We decided to go to a really good, modern nightclub called Zouk to see Seb Fontaine. After drinking in our hostel and watching three Indians literally deteriorate into a big drunken mess within 20 minutes we headed to the club. Ben gave the old "flip-flops or trainers?" a good mulling over and after going with the flip flops was denied entry haha. However, this club had shoes for rent, amazing. I was hoping they would be death wellies our something similar to bowling shoes but they wernt. They were pretty good. We met a couple from England and danced to some good progressive house all night. We even bumped into an Asian Stuart Middleton. He was the spitting dabs (see the photos) haha. Coming out of the club we saw the aftermath of a nasty traffic accident. A motorbike and car were mangled up and the young man from the bike was lying on the ground with blood all over. I cant beleive that in India we didn't even see the most minor accident and here where there is some sort of road system and crash helmets we see a crash. Following that on our way home with 7-11 munchies in our hands we saw a fight break out between a big bloke and an old man. The old man clouted him with a crash helemt. We had great seats and when the comotion got going a lady boy asked me if I was scared? I laughed and said "Have you ever been to North Road man?"
