so i'm sick, i've realized. and to answer my mom's question about capitalization, most of the computers here have their shift keys stuck so that it's really hard to capitalize words. anyway, yeah, i have a horrible sore throat and a bad cough to go with it. i took nyquil last night but it didn't really do anything. not to mention my bones sort of hurt, as do some of my muscles. hmm, wouldn't that be great if i had malaria? .....

anyway, on sunday callie and i went with her family to the bomas of kenya, which is a park sort of like ironworld in chisholm where they show off the different tribes of kenya and their villages. there are life-size huts scattered throughout the park to show what tribal villages look like. it's quite interesting! also, we saw some dancing and music of different tribes. i liked it! the only thing i didn't like was the ride home. we had to take 3 matatus, and they drove super fast, despite the fact that it was pouring. i also did not have an outer shirt to wear because it was so hot during the day that i didn't think i'd need it, so i got soaked, and the seat that i sat on for all three matatus was also soaked. i also cut my elbow on the seat of the first one (don't ask me how, i don't know), and when i was sitting behind the driver of the second matatu, i got splashed in the face by road water, because his window was down and a large truck drove by. i was supremely crabby!!!

the rest of the day was fine though. i hung out with kevin and esther. i don't really remember what i did because my mind is foggy from being sick. it started yesterday with a minor cough, and now it's really bad... i hope it's just a cold. but i never get sick, so i'm confused...

i also called robert yesterday to ask if he would look up flights for me to different countries during my winter break. i'm excited!!! yesterday we also decided to split up into two different swahili classes, one for fast learners, and one for normal learners. i chose the fast learner class, and it's going really well!

just a little note... i'm sure it's getting chilly in minnesota... however, here it is getting hotter! just from walking outside for 15 minutes to get here, i got a little burned because i didn't put sunscreen on. hell yeah!! however, there are really bad fumes here from car/truck/matatu/bus exhaust, and in order to cross the street, i have to weave through traffic because there are no crosswalks or stop signs or anything. so basically i either wait for traffic to disappear or i weave and hope that the cars stop! don't worry, i'm doing all right! most of the time the traffic slows for pedestrians.

enjoy all the new photos that i put up!
