I went to The Airplane factory in Tedderfield and was really surprised what I found.
From Design to CNC cutting the Aluminium Parts to Painting and Assembly everything is done to an very high standard.
The Factory completed about 100 Airplanes since they went into production 3 Years ago.
The Sling Aircrarft is available in 2 or 4 Seat Version and also an Kit is offered.
The Finished Painted Aircrarft Fly away Price is only $ 20 k more than a Kit and therefore I do not see many People in the States will bother to get the Kit.
This is only Possible to the Low wages here in South Africa and Government mandated minimum Wages like in the USA.
This gives jung People the opportunity to learn some skills and get ahead. The Feeling you get going true the Factory that the Management is socially responsible and offering the willing an Opportunity which they otherwise would not have.
The Factory Built Airplane is also fully Alodine corrosion Protected , something you will not get in an RV.
The finish and Parts fit very accurate which results in an outstanding LSA Aircraft.
The Factory has about 100 Employees.
After Lunch went to Venereing to pick up my Bicycle and other stuff I left there to make room for Karin during our South africa round Trip and then back to Rand , where I will clean up the SX while waiting to get my clearance for Namibia which I like to visit before coming back to Joburg by end of the month.
Parked the SX underneath the Dakota Mother Hen ,where Flippie's Crew doing a C- Check at the moment.
The Dakota Lodge was unfortunately fully booked , but across the Ramp the is the Flight Academy which also has Bed& Breakfast .
Had Dinner at the famous Rand Airport Restaurant Harvard which is really good.
