Karin is on her way back to Daytona Beach.... a long 15 hour Flight.... and Im planning my next step.
Thinking about our experience here in South Africa ... here is an recap what I gathered talking to People and seeing it for myself.
South Africa a Country with 45 Million People is an very diverse and Beautiful Country.
20 Years ago ANC came to power and since then this Country has seen a steady decline
besides the ups and downs every economy goes true.
We met many People , and really the Africans are very nice and easy going People ...
why then this Country has the Worldwide highest Murder rate , which goes in Hand with the lowest education rate , where People vote somebody for the High Office with an Grade 3
Education level.... I do not know.... Maybe the promises of Freedom ?
Crime and Murder has a lot of Breeding ground when a country has an staggering 68 % un - employment rate...
We visited the Brits Flying Club and got an warm reception from the Club President and Members.
This club was the the Home base of Paul Mason which was brutally murdered on his Farm
on October 3rd 2013. I never got to know him personally but all his Friends around the world which knew him have nothing but the best to say about him always helping everybody regardless of status or colour........ very sad.
I learned the sad news from Terry an fellow Stemme Owner which I met in Minden when I went on an Soaring Trip a couple years ago.
Since the end of Apartheid or maybe we should call it Beginning of White Apartheid there where
3991 White Farmer Murdered in South Africa according to an account by an website called "sarahmaidofalbion "alone in the last few months 60 cases and you do not hear much about it in the World-press. In the Cases you do hear they are mostly described as Robbery's which is probably not the full truth.
We drove a little around today in the Greater Johannesburg -Pretoria Area and as soon you leave the mayor Highway you are really diving deep into third world territory .... It is a shame
This Country has everything , almost all natural Resources you can think of , an rich and diverse
Landscape surrounded by two Oceans , it seems they have it all...... but something is not working......One of the Problem ,maybe even the Core problem is Corruption on a very high level which is deeply rooted and trickles down.... to all branches ,resources are getting wasted and few on the top raping their Country and cheating their Brothers all under the pretence of Freedom.
I truly hope the People wake up and vote People in Office which are capable to run this Country
so they will have a future.......
Despite all this there are also modern Companies which are doing very well ... one example is: The Airplane Factory in South Africa.
When visiting Cape Town we bumped into Mike Blyth getting Fuel at Stellenboesch.
Mike togheter with his Partners and team owns the Airplane factory which produces an LSA Kit in the Johannesburg Area.
I will visit the place in the next couple days to learn more about it.... more Info about on
www.airplanefactory.co.za
Mike and his Team have flown this Airplane all around the world and both Men and Machine have an incredible Endurance having flown from Brazil to south africa in 27 hours NON- Stop.
I need to find out more about this Airplane which I have seen also in Oshkosh.
