Ismael a fellow Bicycle world rounder living now in La Cumbre gave his personal Mountain bike for my tour through the Back country , went to Capilla del monte , San Marcos Sierras , a Hippy town , then along Rio Pinto ,where I skinny dipped for a swim and then up the steep trail to Mirador and back to La Cumbre
Met some Swiss guy who went for a Paraglider Tamdem Jump. After watching them having pretty rough Landings I decided to pass , since I still need my Legs for Flying the SX, had an flat
and had to walk the last 4 miles and it got dark , tired fell asleep shortly after arriving at the La Diamella.
I grossly underestimated Mountain bike riding the 80 km were much more tireing than 180 on my Roadbike.

In the morning it was time to say good bye to my newly found friends in La Cumbre and I lifted off into the overcast sky , but not before making a low pass on Andy's request.
Landed one hour later in Rosario where I cleared Custom & Immigration , the custom Agent was more interested in taking Pictures of the Airplane than anything else.
Filed IFR via Tinta ,G 680 to SULS Curbelo Punte del Este intl. The 316 NM leg lasted 1:15
Perfect Service, the Follow Personal tied down my Airplane , waited patiently until my Bike was assembled and guided me to Custom & Immigration , very Friendly People everywhere handing over the pre filled Gen Dec and clearing at the Airport lasted less than 5 minutes , this is the way it should be everywhere.
Very good first Impression here in Uruquay.
The 15 km ride into Punte del Este was very pleasant with clean wide Roadways with paved shoulders ideal for Cycling.
Checked in at the Salto Grande and had an excellent Merluza Fish Dinner.
Punta Del Este is very modern with Designer buildings everywhere and the Airport is packed with Corporate Jets.
The Ferias Destination Punta del Este is bustling and busy all a little too Touristic for me , but quite OK.
I just learned that a pretty Bad storm had gone through the Area killing People in Buenos Aires and Uruquay , this probaly inspired the Airport People to Tie Down my Airplane quickly after Landing altough the Wind was moderate with 15 kts.
I will explore the Area tomorrow....
Early start going east along the shore route # 10 via La Barra ,Jose Ignazio,La Paloma,Cabo Paloma where I stopped and climbed up the Lighthouse tower in La Paloma. Then somebody told me that up the road where you have to cross the Lagoon by Boat the paved road would end , so turned around after 50 km , and headed back into an strong headwind , met a group of Cyclist and we shared lead which made it a lot easier ,Drafting and relaxing until it was my turn again up front.
We made the 50 km despite the strong winds in about 2 hours.
Punta Del Este is very upscale and condos on the Beach are selling for more than USD 1 Mio.You can see Porsches and Range Rovers on the Road most of em with Argentinean Licence Plates.
I think its a little overrun by Argentian's which are investing their Money before their Monetary system will collapse again.
The Roads are good the Driver's courteous and Cycling is big in Uruquay , They are having the 69th
Vuelta classica Cicliste National Do Uruquay on route 8 right now.
The Beaches are very nice, roundabouts instead of crossings .Uruquay is a clean , organized fairly well managed Country , at least here in Puenta Del Este, MonteVideo is probably another story.....

When flying north from there, don't miss Iguazu. But you know that, of course...
Posadas might not be a bad idea either. There are a couple of interesting Jesuit missions within cycling distance. Well - YOUR cycling distance, not mine :-)
