Where I stayed
Hotel Del Glaciar - Ushuaia
I took a trip to the sub-antarctic Tierra Del Fuego, Land of Fire. It is at the most southern end of Argentina and a place known for it's mystery and isolation. Beyond it lies Antarctica. Tierra Del Fuego is a port for passage to Antarctica, for explorers and scientists, mostly. Some tourists and travelers visit to get a glimpse of the subantarctic wildlife and to view the massive glaciers along the way through Patagonia. This province is known as Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur and it's capital is Ushuaia. Sheep farming has always been a major industry here, but more recently oil was discovered and oil wells can be seen in the distance. This area was the the site of a gold rush at teh turn of the 19th century, but nothing remains of that industry today. If you visit this land it will be purely for it's natural beauty, sights rarely seen by the city dwellers of the north.
