We had our trip to Phi Phi Island planned on Valentine's Day. I didn’t remember that it was Valentine’s Day until the end of the trip when I was talking to a cute Chinese girl from Australia.  Anyway…

We were ready to go by 7:00am, waiting for a minibus to pick us up.  The bus was picking up her friend Boi to go as well.  Both tours had free pick and delivery to our hotels, which was very convenient.  But if I could give any advice here, it would be to shop around for the best tour deal. I thought I got a good deal by going to Pam’s friend, but I talked to a guy on the boat and he paid about 30 US dollars to my 39 US dollars.  I heard other people had paid up to 60 US for the same trip.

We were taken to a large port, given a sticker with a number, we were 3, and feed all the free coffee we wanted.  Drinks and fruits were included in the price, but no alcohol.  You wouldn’t have wanted to drink anyway.  I felt bad for the people who did the night before.  We had to drive through 8 foot waves for an hour to get to the first island.  My ass hurt after a bit because we decided to sit in the front of the speed boat.

The first island is where they filmed the movie "The Beach" with Leo.  It wasn’t as big as I thought it would be.  The water was so clear and the sand was so white.  The only down side is that there were so many people taking tours there.  I heard you can do an overnight camping stay on the beach.  I think I will try that next time.

Next, we went to Monkey Island.  I don’t know why they call it that because I only saw one monkey.  It seemed like everyone and their mom kept feeding it.  They probably had the monkey hidden under the boat and threw it on the island before we got off.

We did some snorkeling in open water which was cool.  Let me tell you that we had an old Indian man that was scared or something because he looked like he was going to drown even though he had a life vest on.  It was annoying, because he held on the ladder for dear life, but it was the same ladder the rest of us had to use to get in the water.  He wouldn’t let go.  Also, we had some guys from China that kept complaining that their breathing tube was malfunctioning, when in fact, they kept dunking it under water when using it.

Lunch was served buffet style on yet another Island.  It included a combo of Thai and Italian food. I guess rice and pasta are the cheapest types of food to serve.  I bet the Italian tourist thought they were getting catered to.  There were quite a few of them.

We got the most time at the last island we went to.  We got to do more swimming, laying out, and snorkeling.  I saw some topless women, probably Euros, and lots of Asians, snorkeling with bread crumbs mucking up the water.

Our boat’s engine broken down heading back to port, so I got to know some Australians, a Italian guy, and a British gal.  One of the Australians was the very cute Chinese girl.  I should have asked her to me my Valentine. LOL.  The Italian guy was cool.  He gave me a contact for a cheap guesthouse (hotel) and tour agent for next time.  I’m definitely coming back.  The driver got one of the three engines started so we managed to putter our way back slowly.

We all had dinner at an outdoor eatery.  I had some curry chicken and rice for 2 bucks.  Then, Boi and I went to a club called Tiger.  Pam was sleepy so she retired early.  I got my buzz on by drinking rum and cokes.  Boi was there to keep my head straight with the alcohol and the ladies because there were hot Thai girls offering sexual favors everywhere.  I got a solicitation for a bj for 12 US by a very attractive Thai girl, which I regretfully declined.  We did some dancing and had a few more drinks then called it a night.  Overall, it was a good day.
