Drove to Cape Tribulation today. It's the farthest north you can drive without a 4wd vehicle. Crossed over the Daintree River on a ferry, where we saw signs warning of the danger of saltwater crocodiles. Something else to have nightmares about now...
It was a very nice drive through very dense rainforest. Very curvy road with beautiful views of the ocean. It's not a very good area for swimming. The beaches are not bad, but the water is very brown and murky looking near the shore where the sand is being churned up. Saw tons of tiny crab holes on the beach. The crabs make very intricate designs with the sand they haul out of their homes. Hard little workers!
Lots of fruit stands along the way. Papaya, rambutans, pumkin and custard apples. Yum.
