So just after posting my last entry, Cory arrived at the coffee cafe and explained the day was way too nice to be inside. So with that said, Friday afternoon was spent driving to Mt. Hood. Many stops were made along the way, including: Columbia River Lookout, Latourell Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Multnomah Falls, Double Mt. Brewery (grabbed two growlers) and Timberline Lodge. Some of the best pics of Mt. Hood were taken from Timberline Lodge, which is ski-in/out lodge.

Ended up starting Saturday morning helping Cory's friend move out of her apartment (got to repay Cory somehow). Got back to Cory's place and waited for everyone who was camping/hiking with us on the coast that afternoon. During our wait, we ate some leftover thai food (Vi Thai). The leftovers ended up being cold since Cory doesn't have 21th century basics (i.e. microwave or pots/pans for the stove.....lol). Once everyone showed up, we were in route for the coast.

We hiked Saddle Mountain that afternoon. The loop was just over 5 miles. Cory's decimal-rounding skills aren't the sharpest. He likes to round his miles down to lure hikers on the trip, but once on the trail the number seems to lengthen. No worries, the hike was well worth each extra tenth of a mile. After the hike, we ended at Bill's Tavern and Brewhouse in Cannon Beach for dinner and some tasty beers. I recommend the blackberry wheat. We drove past Haystack Rock and proceeded to Cape Lookout State Park where we camped for the night

We woke early and broke down camp ASAP. We got on the trail (Cape Lookout) early to beat the tourist crowd. And we did indeed because we saw many groups on our return to the trailhead parking lot. We ended our trip at Pelican Brewery at Cape Kiwanda Beach, which is near Pacific City. Also, hiked a huge dune on the beach.

Wow, that was an eventful weekend. Thanks to Cory's knowledge of Portland's camping/hiking areas and not to mention him driving (Ebony). Well, I'm leaving for Seattle on Wednesday (3/13) to meet up with Meg. Can't wait to see you, Meg........
