Took a quick trip to see the lava flow at night. This lava flow is just east of the national volcano park. The photos aren't very clear due to my camera having a low battery (ya, next time i will be little more prepared and have them charged). Its not visible, but the lava is flowing right into the ocean. That night we camped in the national park. The next morning we packed it up and headed for a clear day on the Green Sand Beach. The beach was very relaxing, but the hike in and out wasn't much so. Next visit a 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must.

We were there also!
Hey! Ron and I were at that same green sand beach 3 years ago. Ron found out about the beach and that it was a 4 mile 4-wheel drive out to see it so we just had to go. The only problem was that we drove 3 miles past it at first. You know Ron, he loved the challenge and the fun of driving over all of the big rocks and sand dunes. Glad it was not our car!
