This trip started on new year's eve of 2008. I left San Diego to the LAX airport with the help of a friend of mine (Lauren)...thx again. As my flight was delayed, i finally realized not having a cell phone was going to be harder than i expected. I eventually arrived in Honolulu and missed my scheduled flight to Kona on the Big Island. Again, no cell phone and all land phone lines were down due to a storm. But i managed to email Meg from airport computer.....no prob!!! Just got on another later flight...not to bad.

Made it to Kona to party with Meg for new years 2009. We stayed at the Royal Kona Resort right on the ocean. The views were amazing. Went to a few on the local spots in town. Stopped in to the Kona Brewing Co and had a couple of the local brews. Here's a funny story about leaving the brewery: some random bum that was hanging out in the bushes asked for a smoke. Had no idea where the voice was coming from until i finally made out his shadow in these random bushes. Sorry buddy NO SMOKES.....quite funny, but guess you had to be there.

Megan and i have been cruising to alot of different spots on the island the past week. We drove all the way around the island and stopped at many of the sites. She is now back in school (studying nursing), so i have lost my tour guide during the the weekdays. Here is a list of some of the great spots we visited: Pebble Beach, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge), Makalawena Beach, Manuka State Park, South Point, Hawaii Volcano Nat'l Park, Rainbow & Pe'epe'e Falls. The photos of Pe'epe'e Falls were taken way off the marked trail. We found our own trail to the falls!

Actually got to experience ocean fishing. We went out on a friend of the family's boat. Fishing is his living and he is good at it. The day was long and slow, but fun once we got into some Ahi (yellowfin tuna). Only caught three for the day. One of the Ahi was attacked by a shark as we were reiling it to the boat. We actually got to see the small shark at the surface and swim away with a bite of our tuna.
