Where I stayed
Ellery Creek Big Hole is a permanent water hole that is a good spot for a swim but absolutely freezing for the best part of the year and it is recommended that you use some sort of floatation if you enter the water as it is so cold. We were meeting the Jervis's here later and the boys were whinging about walking so we decided to leave them in the hut at the car park to wait for their friends while Grant, Stella and I did the 3km walk around this part of the nature park.
The walk was one of the more boring and a bit snakey so we were glad to be back 45min's later expecting that the Jervis's would have arrived
After a while the boys came back, caravan attached and another little disaster overcome. We had a laugh about all the stuff going wrong and the fact that it was lucky they Jervis's were heading back to normal life as they were starting to get over it after 16 months on the road.
We had some lunch, more trusty salad rolls after the big boys had a swim in the very very cold water. Then it was back in the car, we were going to go in Stanley Chasm but the cost and time restraints meant we went straight into Alice to get some stuff.
It was getting late by the time we finished doing our jobs in town so we decided to have something to eat before heading off to our free camp site further south. Went to a place recommended by someone we had met earlier in the trip called Windmill which was very yummy and even better because I didn't have to cook it!
It was late when we finally got to the freebie beside the Finke river so we just flopped into bed ready for another drive tomorrow to Kings Canyon.
