Ju Ju's Place!
What I did
KTV
So..I've seen some bizarre things in my life..but whoa. Today was one to hit the top ten charts in my book. I swear..if it happens again, I'll leave my camera out so you can see it. The name of the game..hundreds of Chinese adults act like little children. Literally blew my mind. Literally. Ka-Boom. Gone. So I started today with...wait. I didn't cover yesterday after I posted!
Now this was sweet. Ju Ju wanted to go Shapu Shapu..thought she meant like..shopping. So I was like..awe heck yeah I'll go shop with you! So we were pumped..and getting ready to start the day: PS..slept In till' 9! AWWWE YEEEAH! Latest time yet. Whatup!!! Anyway. We left and pulled into a shopping mall, and walked past this EPIC little kid amusement park..Yep. Just look at the vid. Pic's don't cover enough, I swear! I love pictures..but please. The videos are junk. Yes. As I stated, I am neither a photography or directing major, so this isn't my forte..but still. Gives one an idea of what's going on. Sch-peel done. Walked into the mall..annnnd whoa. Huge..yet just mediocre stature for a city of this magnitude. We went allll the way to the top (and another culture note..get ready! Not sure if this is common in America, but here, they place all of the playgrounds and food at the top of the structure, so people gain hunger as the reach the top of the mall! Also..the kid play places are SO AMAZING..seriously. This is a new generation of little Emperors and Empresses. They could fish in a pretty massive tub, and catch real little fish. And there was a massive sandbox too. Just. Ugh. Whatever. Shapu Shapu..ohhhhhhhh so it's a restaurant! Actually fast-food. Noted. It was another hot pot place, but everyone gets their own hot pot. Not bad. Tasted good, basically a similar fashion as that one video from last week with everyone dipping food into the bowl..yeah. Cool. Come to America. We will welcome you!..I think. After this..Karaoke!
So Karaoke..as I learned yesterday..is a MASSIVE form of entertainment here in Beijing. Like..Ju Ju absolutely loves it. Now take the RockBand/Guitar Hero at home singing idea, and mix it with a concept of going to the movies. But this is only for adults. Seriously. We went at it for like..three hours. Went so fast. It was awesome. Had a ball. They gave us popcorn and snacks..like octopus jerky (SO GOOD) and some dried fruit..and rice snacks. Awesome. Golden. Met a few of Ju Ju's friends..had a good time. Wanted to start strong..so went with Fergie's vocals on My Humps. Perfect. The English selection was massive, and pretty up-to-date..but the lyrics oftentimes mismatched the actual song, or the rhythm was off.annnd everything was uncensored. Makes sense..When you hear a bad word in another language..do you actually take it seriously? Probably not. That..or they don't understand completely that the words are completely vulgar..aha. Whatever. It was funny. Had a good day, met another friend of Ju Ju's later that evening when we returned home. He was awesome. He got his Master's in the US..forgot where exactly..but he was an awesome guy. Actually teaches Chinese to little kids. Like..we're talking K-5 here. Mind you: This was at an international school.soo..But still. We need more of that. Not going to lie. We gotta stay in the game America. Oh!!!! Had Pizza Hut for dinner..delivery. But still. Ju Ju wanted it..I didn't say anything. When she brought it up..I was like YEAH! I wanna try it. It tasted the same, so heavenly..the taste of extra carbs: Home. But yeah. Again though..the portions were smaller, and it came with some soup and stuff. Not bad. I Woofed it down. Rammed out more Chinese homework/self-study for the night..and crashed. Annnd side note. I'm trying to make sure Ju Ju speaks more and more Chinese to me everyday, without translations. Aha. If it's something major..it can be in English..but I'm trying to push myself harder everyday. I don't feel like decelerating..quite the contrary! I want to head back to America and destroy and Chinese class that gets in my way. Will this happen? Possibly..but Chinese is still so freaking hard.
So no culture is perfect. Got to see a little Chinese example this morning. After I had a weird dream I was back at home..at my high school..and I was thinking..HOW DID I LOSE 13 WEEKS OF MY LIFE!? WHY AM I NOT IN CHINA!? Weird. It was like my everyday conscious mind was stuck in a dream world. Not the coolest..Was a little weirded out. Don't let it happen to you..aha. Anyways. Finally. Finale. Subway. Ditie. Whatever. Rolls in..and it's empty. Zach and I were like..oh sure. Cool. I take a peek to my left..and to my right.. and I saw these people doing the same.. and it was LITERALLY like.."Drivers..Start your engines...Beep..Beep..Beep. BOOOOOP!" Everyone TOOK OFF. It was almost like cockroaches scattering..only the inverse situation. They SWOOOPED upon these seats, and like..Ugh. I was completely and utterly disgusted. I'm sure this happens in any major city. But seriously. Hundreds of grown adults. What the heck? Please. If this has ever been you..and you were in decent shape. Please. Plleeeease. Maintain your dignity. I dunno. Seats are great. Sure. But seriously. Facepalm for Mankind today. Major fail moment. I was literally embarrassed to be riding the train. Like I said though..if it ever happens again. It will be filmed.. Oh you believe me...;)

It's really entertaining reading these in your voice. lol Also... I want to see this inverse cockroach scatter deal.
After reading your blog, Tyler, I am so elated that the "voice" in your writing...you learned....from your first grade teacher!!! :) Correct???
Where are you??? I'm itching to read another post!! Even if it's your frustrations, it's ok to post those too. We understand that there are ups and downs in this experience... it's to be expected. But we just want to HEAR from you!!
Miss you, Tye Guy!!
