Meeting Peggy and Bill added greatly to our enjoyment of Brisas Santa Lucia. Like us they liked snorkelling and after some discussion, we decided to go on the half day trip out to the reef. The reef was only a couple of kilometres off-shore and if we ever went back again we'd go out in the Hobie Cat and snorkel straight out from the hotel, but on this occasion we took the motor boat out and it was thorougly enjoyable.
We were all a little thrown off at the beginning when we were told we had to bring our passports along. Seemed that one time (not necessarily in this location) some Cubans anxious to get to the US had posed as tourists and hi-jacked the boat they went out in and forced them to go to Miami.
The reef didn't have a huge variety of coral, but it did have a lot of different kinds of fish and the time sped by.
