Hi everyone!
sorry ive been out of touch for the last week or so, what with starting my trek and being on the road constantly, this is the first time ive been able to get on a computer! im currently in new orleans, louisiana, its an amazing city, especially considering that only two years ago it was devastated by the hurricane. The is still a huge amount of damage still visible but the city is thriving, especially in the french quarter where we are staying. last night we headed out to the bars, the nightlife is like nothing ive experienced before - its the mardi gras season so as you can imagine there is gay couples everywhere and naked street dancing, strippers, live sex shows and lots of drunk people! there is 13 of us in our group and we headed out to the bars and tried the local cocktail specialities - something called a hand grenade - that was more than enough to keep us merry for the rest of the night! so today weve been taking it easy, just exploring the city by day, its very quaint - full of street performers.

so what else have we been up to on trek - we began our trip in new york and headed on down to washington dc - a 5 hour drive and set up camp in a beautiful campsite - im in a tent with a girl called pam - weve only known each other for a few days  but we clicked straight away which is good considering we are living together for the next few weeks. the firsty challenge was to learn to set up camp - was interesting since ive never done it before but ive got the hang of it now. we go shopping everyday to buy fresh food to eat and keep it all in cooolers in the back of the trailer. we all take turns in washing, cooking etc. DC was amazing, ive never seen so many famous landmarks in one day - the declaration of independance, magna carta, first consititution and bill of rights documents, washington monument, US Capitol, white house, the list goes on! didnt get to see george bush unfortunately! after DC we headed down to bristol Tennessee for an overnight stop on our way to the Ocoee river in Ocoee, Tennessee for a white water rafting trip. it was absolutely brilliant, mostly a category 4 rapid river (pretty scary rapids!) - and that evening we partied with the rednecks. on the way to misssippi we toured the jack daniels distillery and got pretty high on fumes alone.
and now here i am in new orleans... its been a crazy few week but its one im never gonna forget! sorry if im rushing but my money is about to run out! ill email again soon. love everyone lots
