Sorry i havnt been in touch much during the last 6 weeks or so... but ive been having far too much fun to sppend any time sitting in front of the computer, plus the computers at camp were terrible. but now camp is over i have far more time to sit down and tell everyone whats been going on! Camp ended last thursday and we were all very sad to leave especially knowing that a lot of us would not be going back. After getting up ridiculously early on the last day (5AM) i had to chaperone 20 kids down to boston airport and wait with them until they left for their home towns, after that, my friends, Lyndsey, Johanna and myself headed to our friends chris's house in boston for the night!. the next morning me and johanna boarded a bus from boston to orlando, FL. It took 35 hours and let me tell you we will not be doing it again anytime soon! we met the strangest people ever and someone even threatened to kill johanna.. we told security at a bus station and they had him arrested! But out journey was worth it as we finally got down to orlando and got a cab to our hostel, where we encountered the strangest cab driver ever - wanted to take us back to his house and attend to our every need! but we got there safely in the end! Our hostel here is ok, basic but clean and perfect for us to rest our weary bodies in - the first day we hit up disneylands magic kingdom - johanna is the biggest disney geek ever so she brought half of the shops! it was fantastic though, all the rides were great and we got our photo taken with goofy! The next day we headed to the disney mgm studios which was a little bit more up my street - got to go on the backstage tour of the film studios and i was even selected as an extra to take part in the indianna jones stunt show (i had to stand there and scream while people swordfighted around me!). I managed to persuade johanna to go on the aerosmith and tower of terror rides - i loved them but she was scared still!
Yesterday was definately the highlight of our time here in florida. we had booked up to go to the kennedy space centre and when we got on our tour bus they told us that the space shuttle endeavour was scheduled to land there at 12.30 that day. it was originally supposed to land in houston, texas but because of the hurricane warnings it had been diverted to kennedy. so we definately picked the right day to go. we couldnt get anywhere near the actual runway cos they keep everyone at least 3 miles away but we picked a good stop on the observation tower. we waited a long time but eventually we heard these two enourmous loud bangs, where the shuttle broke the sound barrier and reentered earths atmosphere. then we saw it off in the distance, just a tiny white dot, it came down gradually and landed on the runway letting its parachutes out! although it was a long way away it was definately one of the coolest things i have ever seen or heard, and will see for a long time! i captured most of it on video so i should be able to post it soon.
Today we are just chilling out at our hostel, waiting to our bus to take us up to richmond, virginia - i will keep you posted with what we get up to there!
hope everyone is well
lots of love
