Dear Friends & Family
Today we went to see some recent history, 1967.  We went to a place called Ammunition Hill.  This was a key battle in the 6 day war in 1967.  The Memorial here is very much like Gettysburg (only smaller).  This hill was a turning point in the war just like Gettysburg.  The hill was taken by paratroops who a day before they were called to duty were with their families.  The Memorial has a large museum with personal notes from those who fought there.  In addition the trenches were the troops fought are still there.  This area of the world has been fought over for 3,000 years.  In the last 2,000 year religion has been an issue that has brought about most of the fighting.  Religion in terms of people believing that God gave them rights to certain places or using religion to justify greed.  I have been wondering if perhaps Jesus came to this place because of all the problems it had and would have in the future.  A message of love and humility came into a place and time where the values of the age were pride and power.  Pride & power still seem to prevail in to many human relationships but over the years we have seen what the love of God can do to bring life into the dying moments of peoples lives.    God's power was seen in the form of Jesus as He refused to tempted to use God's power to control.  He used God's power to love the very people who would eventually kill him.  With his death the force's of evil thought they had won.  However the very act of killing Jesus brought about a new age were Gods love has a chance to touch people in a personal way. We today have seen the difference the love of God can make when we use it as a source of power.

Battleground
MJ- I believe after discharge from mandatory military service, one is in active reserve till age 50 and is required to be ready for deployment on a moment's notice. Gobag always packed and ready. Of course, God's protection was the underlying reason for the '67 victory, as well as '48 and '73 and those battles that are still to come, but as with most all of life, we, as humans have been delegated our part in God's plan. Israel's focus on a strong military is fulfilling their 'human' part of God's provision I believe. Love, RC
