Trip End
May 17, 2011
We were excited to be visiting Panama, but sad that our trip was at its end. We landed in Panama City, spent the night at the airport (voluntarily), spent the following day at the mall (obviously), and then took a night bus to Bocas del Toro, a group of islands in the Caribbean. We stayed on Isla Bastimentos, a small island covered in jungle and scattered with beautiful beaches. Our first few days, we stayed in Old Bank, a tiny town where most locals live. Marieta and Bill joined us, for the second time on our trip, and we all stayed at an eco-resort across the island. We relaxed, ate delicious food, drove our golf cart around the resort, swam a lot, and tried to soak up the last bits of our trip. We spent our last full day in Panama City, visiting the historical part of town known as Casco Viejo. It felt like latin New Orleans and although many parts are still authentic, it is quickly being gentrified. Where did we eat our last meal, you ask? TGI Fridays, of course!
