Getting back into Argentina, we spent a long day at the Perito Moreno Glacier, an extension of the 350 km long Southern Ice Cap. We wandered the boardwalks, waiting for and watching building-sized chunks of ice calve off the glacier and explosively crash into the lake.
Our next stop was El Chalten, a tiny town backed by the incredible Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre ranges. Amazingly, you can walk out your hostel door and be on the world-class trails in minutes. We spent four days in the back-country, taking in the sights, staring at peaks and more glaciers, and watching some of the most beautiful sunrises of our lives (well, at least Jay was awake for them).
