Holy crap the new washer/dryer combo is actually semi-working! The clothes we washed actually came out mostly dry!!!  I am so relieved.  Obviously we had one that was not working at all.  So glad it's working now. Now I can start drying stuff. I have no clothing that is left dry! So I’m sporting my jeans shorts today.  I know you will hate that Leslie. LOL

An aside…when they were replacing the washer/dryer Jym found someone’s heart pill on top of it!  I said someone probably starting having a full blown coronary because they couldn’t get it to work and started grabbing for their pills frantically and dropped one and it rolled between the washer and the counter.  HA!

We spent the entire morning dealing with the litany of things that were wrong at the resort.  I called and flipped my lid.  I hate to take it out on people who are clearly not at faulty but it is so hard to try to be nice because I feel so frustrated and being nice is not getting my point across.  They sent up poor Mike (the supervisor of this area) again.  What a nice guy and so sociable.  He should be running this place.  Then Jim who is like the engineering supervisor called us and gave us a $50 gift card to the restaurant here (very nice guy…even gave me his cell phone number if I have any other issues) and had the guys come back up and replace the refrigerator and the washer/dryer.  You really can’t ask for more than that.  I did write a scathing review of the hotel though (It’s viewable on my blog at the bottom of the last entry).  I will be posting said review on Trip advisor as well.  I honestly think it is sad that there are some really solid employees here who want to be proud of where they work and who want to be helpful to the guests and their hands are somewhat tied. (I hope they all find better jobs where their skills and kindness can be fully appreciated…and they can possibly be paid more then $9 an hour!!) But I cannot in good conscience give the hotel a good review based on those people.  I need to review it on its merits and Westgate the company does not deserve my praise.

Do you know that like 72% of all hotels are owned by 7 families?  To me that is an insane statistic.  I really feel like Americans are getting the rug pulled out from under them while they look at the shiny object that is being dangled over here.  Our whole country is going this way.  These wealthy billionaires buy up all they can and keep the wealth to themselves and little by little they strip away more and more from the staff and customers and eventually there will be nothing any of us can do about it because they will control and rule everything.  And its been happening some time and the middle class are too concerned with useless drama to see what is happening and stop it!  But what these wealthy men don’t see is that eventually when they sit atop their giant pile of wealth and power they will eventually be at the mercy of the American public…I say you should play us VERY carefully because although mostly now people are too clueless and looking the other way only concerned with themselves eventually the tide will turn and you better damn well hope it doesn’t end up like the batman movie for you all.  You can only screw people for so long before they come back kicking.

Bill Haslam, the governor of the state of TN says he is considering options to reopen the national parks based on the new concept of temporarily using state money to run them until the federal government pulls their collective heads from their giant rectum. But he says it is hard because the parks here are shared with other states which is not the case out west. BLAH BLAH BLAH…To me this is all political smoke and mirrors, like always, regarding anyone in the government.  If anyone TRULY wanted to open the park and felt bad about it they would at LEAST take down the cones and barriers to the pull offs.  There is NO reason those should not be open. Fine if you want to keep the roads closed but don’t act like you are trying to do what you can. I almost feel like the government employees of the park were EXTRA dickish when the closed off what they did.  For example the nature trail on the edge of town.  It’s a one way drive…a DRIVE.  Why does that need to be regulated.  It is no different than any other road.  And why cone off a small pull off for 3 cars.  How much money have they spent on CONES?  I mean really!  And there is serious overkill.  They will line like 30 comes up next to each other.  Hello they are plastic cones.  They are NOT immovable.  What is worse is hearing stories about what is happening to some people who have defied the CLOSED signs.  Fines, being arrested etc.  I think the police need to not be such jerks.  They should know and accept that the public is angry and not trying to deface things.  They just want to enjoy the things that are blocked off!  So just LET THEM.  We should have the right to express our dissatisfaction on this mess.

Bonnie and Shawn came over today to see us and it was so nice to see old friends.  It always amazes me how time and distance don't lessen a good friendship.  It is always as if we have never been apart.  Such a comfortable and close friendship I am blessed to have in my life. They drove down from Knoxville and arrived in the afternoon.  We drove up through the park to the state border and got some pictures.  Although some of the parking areas are open things are still closed off.  One man in passing told us that the restrooms at the state border were open but I am not sure if they were but it was nice to see some people enjoying some parts of the park.  We then drove up to Ober Gatlinburg and walked around the shops and took some pictures.  Great view from up there.  We finally made out way down into town and walked around for a while in the shops and had dinner at Smoky Mountain Brewery.  It was so nice to see them again and to laugh and talk.
