Yesterday morning we bought twelve banana breads and said our goodbyes to Goa. After a bus to Margao then another to the airport we boarded our Kingfisher flight to Mumbai. The flight was only an hour long but we got a free meal which was exciting! When we arrived in we took the train to Mumbai Central, then a taxi to correct Central Station (nobody told us there were two). After faffing around booking trains it was dark and we still had nowhere to stay. Luckily we found somewhere, but it was expensive compared to anywhere in India, and we went to bed with no dinner.

We were awoken this morning with breakfast in bed which was lovely! After checking out we walked to the Gateway of India where we bumped into a couple we saw in Goa. We chatted to them for about an hour , briefly viewed Jehangir Art Gallery, then headed to a Synagogue and the High Court (both of which were closed as it was Saturday). At midday we got a train to Dharavi where the slums are. Hardly one person begged and the locals didn't seem to notice us. We didn’t manage to see the harshness of the large slums as we couldn’t find them, but from what we saw the locals seemed happy. On the train to Girguam Chowpatty ( Mumbai’s beach) it got so busy that at DaDa stop we were violently pushed from the train and weren’t let back on again. When we finally got to the beach it was littered quite badly, but we enjoyed flavoured ice drinks called Golas. We later found they were made from Indian water! In the evening we caught a train to Aurangabad where we met a lovely lady who offered us into her home, and a Chinese guy who told us he eats 'big dogs like steak.’
